Greetings folks, it’s been quite some time since we got an entry in this series and it’s definitely been killing me not writing anything for all of you but ya boy finally got a new laptop and we are back in business baby!!!!! The whole point of this series is for me to share all of the cool and funny stuff I’ve found on the internet over the years and give it to all of you. I get no greater joy than introducing people to each other for their betterment and making people laugh. It’s my bread and butter.

Now without further ado I’d like to introduce you to the work of Mounty Oum.

I was originally introduced to Mounty’s work back in 2008 on Gametrailers, a website dedicated to video game content (If the name didn’t tip you off) which hosted amazing reviews, original video content and a robust forum/community which allowed you to rack up points from interaction to earn games and other neat awards.

Dead Fantasy

One of the original pieces of content that was posted on the site was Mounty’s Dead Fantasy series which pitted Final Fantasy characters Yuna, Riku and Tifa (The first two in their Final Fantasy X2 attire and Advent Children regalia respectively) against Dead or Alive mainstays Ayane, Hitome and Kasume.

The first time I brushed across these videos I was blown away by the cinematography and choreography that I saw. That coupled with Rob Dougan’s piece from The Matrix Reloaded’s Chateau scene.

Before Mounty finished the series off he made at least 6 of these and it gets crazier the more characters from each franchise show up but you’ll learn to love it.

Now this video is a compilation of all 6 entries so it’s over 30 minutes long, just grab some popcorn and enjoy.

Haloid

Haloid actually predates the Dead Fantasy series by one year featuring a Spartan from the Halo series and Samus Aran from the Metroid series, putting their titles together to form Haloid.

You’ll notice more music from the Matrix and moves done in that series as well. Mounty was a huge fan as you can tell. lol

Mounty also worked on the long running Machinima (Using a graphics engine to create a cinematic production) series Red vs Blue which has been going strong since 2003. Mounty worked prominently in season 10.

After finishing his work up on time then he was given the greenlight to premier his series RWBY (Pronounced Ruby, like the gemstone) which has been critically successful since it’s debut back in July of 2013. I’ve seen numerous cosplays of the characters at cons over the years which speaks volumes of it’s popularity because it’s still going to this day, you can watch it on Netflix and Crunchyroll.

Now I’d like to end this off with a RIP to Mounty Oum who passed on Feb 1st 2015 due to an severe allergic reaction that rendered him comatose.

My hope is that his videos inspired you in some way. This mans work was done by himself with nobody else jumping in and he eventually ended up making his own action adventure series.

I hope I’ve been able to introduce you to something cool that could potentially blossom into something more for you.

We’ll be back sooner than later, the itch for writing is back and I have a lot I NEED to share or I’m going to combust.

K love ya bye!
