Self-inflicted Gunnshot

If you haven't been in the know James Gunn, a well-known Director most famously known for directing the Guardian of the Galaxy movies has recently been removed from directing the third film in the series by the Walt Disney Company. This occurred after obscene and disturbing tweets resurfaced of him making jokes about pedophilia and rape. These comments were discovered by alt-right activist and smear agent Mike Cernovich. These comments are brutal and very damaging when you read all of them and I understand why Disney got rid of him because of their family-friendly image, even though I feel that he shouldn’t have been fired for those past comments. Personally, I don't think people should be fired for past tweets especially if they've regretted them. I ’ll even say I don't think Roseanne should've been fired for her recent tweets. Even though her comments were in bad taste, considering the fact that she has a history of doing off the wall things should not have caused a knee-jerk reaction. But, these are private companies and they do deserve that right to make whatever decision they deem fit. With that being said, let’s talk about Mike Cernovich for a second. Cernovich is an internet troll who has made controversial statements himself in the past and has a history of going after people by digging up tweets on them especially if they criticize President Trump like James Gunn has done in the past. He did the same to Sam Seder who made a sarcastic joke on Twitter with an underlining meaning and he was fired by NBC before later being let back on after enough outrage over the incident occurred. In my own opinion, he is someone who shouldn’t be taken seriously and has made a career out of being a smear hitman who goes around making false and unverifiable statements and trying to ruin people successful careers by digging up dirt on them from the past. He has nothing to lose himself because he has no real career thus why he enjoys engaging in this type of activity. Currently, there is a petition to get Gunn back on as director of the movie and there has been a strong showing of solidarity by other members of Hollywood so we will see. In the end, however, this is yet another lesson in why you should watch what you post on social media cause it could come back to haunt you.
