Fallen Stars Shine the Brightest

It so very goes without saying that times like these are never easy. It is never easy to accept the departure

from earth which we will all venture towards at some point and it is definitely not easy when it’s someone that you looked up to or felt a connection with. It almost never feels real. When that person leaves, it’s like that connection gets intercepted and we are only left with fuzzy memories and messages. It is not a savory feeling but rather an empty, bottomless cloak that hangs over your head when an unexpected death occurs. I want to say that every day we are granted is not guaranteed and should be treated as such. If there is someone whose life has reminded me of this the most its 20-year-old Jahseh Onfroy. We all know him better as XXXTENTACION aka X and I have gotta say that this guy was a one of a kind. In our day we often cling to negativity and jump so quick to demonizing folk in hopes that we can feel morally superior and better about our own faults. It’s a fucking sick and toxic mentality. X was a beautiful soul because he reminded us that even when you have your demons to battle, you can still be an angel. One is not exclusive to the other. If given a chance, we can all do better and be better for not just ourselves but each other as well.

We love X so much because he loved us. Not on no fake love, but from the beginning he’s been an advocate for conversation and overall mental wellbeing. He has always expressed his desire for love and acceptance over money and popularity and never once did his intentions seem disingenuous. In honesty fuck what all the literal haters have to say, it is not my job to prove anyone innocent but I will say this: No person on this earth has any moral standing to be talking as to place condemning judgement on the next. There are always 3 sides to a story but only one includes the truth. There are a lot of people out there who think his fans are naive or ignoring the allegations that were made amongst other things in his past but that is not the case. It’s simply a matter of realizing that there’s more than what meets the immediate surface. A lot of his fans have been following him from the beginning and because of his openness they in turn know a lot about his personal life. What’s frustrating is that people who don’t know him or hadn’t heard of him prior to the accusation have so much to say as though they’ve been observing for years. Once again, it’s that eagerness to feel morally superior but that shit has got to stop. Not only was XXXTentacion’s music good, but he was a good person. Everyone deserves a chance to grow and make healthy decisions and sometimes those choices aren’t as easy or accessible as we’d like. However, once someone is able to make those changes…why try and stop them? Why hold onto hateful and negative narratives that serve no purpose moving forward? Hate begets nothing but hate. We need to spend more time and energy uplifting each other and encouraging one another to live up to our own individual potential. There is enough hate going around X’s name with people unjustly claiming anything negative you can think of so this article was made kind of as an antidote for that but also simply because I personally feel some type of way about this. We here at FiendFix don’t fuck with that fake news shit and we certainly don’t fuck with judging people without all the facts so here’s some more facts for ya to demonstrate that we did indeed lose a sweet, albeit damaged soul on June 18th, 2018 and he WILL be forever missed.

  • Let’s start here because the #Helpinghandchallenge wasn’t as big it as it should’ve been and it is never too late to start giving back.

  • This one @ 2:19 is the part I want to emphasize….the effort and emotion behind his request that any of his fans who are true fans “will follow”

  • More words from the wise on LOVING YOURSELF

  • Because “changing the way you think will change the way your perceive the world”

  • In case you still aren’t sure on his intentions.

  • Sweet boy being sweet. Goofy boy being goofy.

  • Inspirational/ motivational all damn day!

  • Some other observations from other people :

As complex, simple, yet contradictory the music, it struck chords like none other within our souls. The only other current artist that I can think of with a similar tug at the heart ability would be Kid Cudi. But the difference here is that aggressive misunderstood ‘bad boy’ vibe that X has but Cudi doesn’t. Whether you feel like an unheard delinquent and want to scream to “RUN UP ON ME” or you feel mentally drained and lost and wanna stare off into space while listening to “Tightrope” there is literally something for EVERYONE. I think that’s one of the beautiful things about his soul, his transparency as a person reflected in the songs he’d create and these sounds expressed himself so truly that sometimes the thoughts contradicted each other but never once did that make them any less true. Each and every XXXTENTACION song is a sliver of his mind. I know I have personally felt moved by his music in multiple ways and that’s true for most…probably all of his fans. We know real when we see it and there was nothing but realness oozing from all that XXX did. He wasn’t perfect nor pretended to be. It’s amazing when you get to witness growth in someone and it’s a shame when that growth is suddenly halted. Looking back people love to say what they would’ve done differently but fail to realize the trials are what make you in the present. Everything happens how it will and what we do with it is up to us. X is someone who believed that despite what happened yesterday, you can be better for it today.

At the end of the day X was a young man who had a lot of love for others even when he didn’t have any for himself. Looking at his old social media accounts you can see he’s always been openly troubled, but still he pushed forward to be the man we are all crying for now. When people talk of the fallen legends such as Tupac in the Hip-Hop community, they act as though there is a certain checklist you must make before being a part of that conversation. XXXTentacion is officially a part of that conversation. No damn debate. It isn’t just about musical style because obviously there is a 20+ year difference between the musical relevancy so that isn’t comparable but when we look at the impact Tupac made on his community sonically and socially we can see how X was on a similar path. His music spoke the best for how he was feeling and he had different sounds to match his different emotions. He was demonized in the public eye but still chose to push forward in hopes of brighter days. He was simultaneously our ear to listen and our voice of self-preservation. He never stopped being true to himself and encouraged us to do the same. Since before his passing you can look in the comments of any XXX song on YouTube and read just how many people lives were affected by this man. This isn’t a trend it’s a gotdamn movement and all great leaders of any movement seem to get taken from us. We must carry on his energy and his positivity not just for him but for ourselves. WE have to want better. He wanted better. It’s honestly still all surreal and I don’t even want to believe it.

It’s hard not to be a pessimist, trust me on that. It’s even harder, however to not be happy and thankful for all that we do have. Gone too soon but at least we got to experience him while he was here and I have no doubt though brief, his presence helped countless. I also have no doubt he would rather see us celebrate and share his life than sit around and do nothing but be sad. This is for you, X, this is solely to remind people fuck all the noise, you were great though flawed and we can’t ever replace your pure soul.

Young boy Jahseh, we- and by ‘we’ I mean the rest of the fallen angels you left behind- will miss your existence and presence among us on this burning rock. The music you wrote resonated with so, so, so many people and it can and NEVER will be forgotten. Thank you for everything. Rest forever in Peace, Jahseh. </3
