Razan al-Najjar was a Palestinian medic who was assisting the wounded on the border during the height of the protest in Gaza. Sadly she was assassinated by Israeli snipers as she ran to save lives and as her mother said, she thought her white coat identifying her as a medic would protect her, but, Israeli soldiers had other plans. At only 21 years old she had a passion for helping the people of her country. She once said
“I’m here at the frontline as a human shield and rescuer for the injured, But society has to accept us. If they don’t want to accept us by choice, they will be forced to because we have more strength than any man.”
Even though she had her hands up in the air signaling that she was a member of the ambulance team and not a threat the Israeli military still shot her. Going even further Israel’s right-wing government tried to discredit her as helping the terrorist. Her good works for humanity in the occupied territories will never be forgotten, and this is yet another example of why the Israeli people must vote out the likes politicians like Benjamin Netanyahu. In my opinion, if we ever want to reach a positive solution to the Israeli-Palestine conflict then it needs to be done.
