It's been awhile since I posted anything at all let alone this series which has been dormant since December of 2017 but I'm making a comeback, I want to provide the pieces of content that have made me the person I am today. I had a longer response in regards to this series return but that will be in another article coming very soon so instead I want you to indulge in one of the coolest pieces of animation I'd ever seen from the website Newgrounds.com

MK vs SF is a series of flash videos made by Proxicide, a flash animator who worked for 2 weeks and god knows how many hours to put this video together. MK vs SF (which is short for Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter) is a concept that has been a fan dream that crosses the universes of Capcom's heralded Street Fighter series against Netherealm Studios bloody Mortal Kombat series. These series released around a fighting game boom back in the early/mid nineties that Street Fighter 2 ushered in which has persisted up until today. Both series have a dedicated fan base and would like nothing more than to prove which series characters are superior.

Although this idea may never happen, anything could happen.lol Due to the nature of the less than bloody Street Fighter series, it would be a tall order for Capcom to allow their beloved cast of characters to be battled damaged and subsequently torn to pieces via a "Fatality" per one of the Mortal Kombat characters. On the other end Netherealm would like for their characters actions to be realized and sync with what fans of that series are used to.

An effort such as this had been done, a crossover that no soul expected when Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe released back in November of 2008(Yo it's gonna be 10 this year!!!) with DC not wanting their characters savaged as they had an image to uphold which is why you'll never see Mario get destroyed in an official game.(Quality control is important)

MK vs DC Universe was critically viewed due to the lack of fatalities(Mortal Kombat staple) and the light nature of the game. If Capcom and Netherealm ever did pair to make a crossover, this would be the case for that game but low and behold that is not the case for these flash videos as they are fan made!

This series by Proxicide was originally released back May of 2005 where it gained steam quickly and ended up on the front page of Newgrounds which was a very big deal.(The front page was reservered for the best of the best and with so many users uploading their own work to the site, it is an honor to ,make it on the front page.) (Also this video is 13 years old, it's wild to me!)

This being Proxicide's first effort (Pronounced Proxy-side) the story doesn't really matter in the overarching paper-thin plot of the series as a whole but none of that really matters as the action is the main focus.

The first video is a fight between Raiden the Thunder God of Earthrealm from the Mortal Kombat series and Ken Master the blonde haired(He's not really blonde, he dyes his hair) millionaire fighter who grew up alongside Street Fighter series protagonist Ryu.

This series got me into the Tekken series amazing soundtracks, namely Tekken 5 since this video uses Moonlit Wilderness which is an amazing pieces of electronic opera that's played on a moonlit stage with cotton flowers that fly up whenever you're moving around the stage.(It was impressive at the time)

But enough talk, indulge in the video!!!

Fun fact:The sprites from the Mortal Kombat characters are from Mortal Kombat 3 which at this point seem dated but the Street Fighter sprites come from Street Fighter 3rd Strike which has some of the smoothest animation for the 2 dimensional game that I have ever seen in my life! (Enough so that my brother Lamont brought the game over to my house with his Dreamcast for Christmas of 99 or 00 and I fell in love with the art style and smoothness of this art assets. I even bought the game myself in a compilation that dropped on the PS2 in the mid 2000s. I am trash at the game but I like to look at it.lol)

After dropping this neat little project and with the front page success, Proxicide proceeded to get back in the lab and follow up with MK vs SF 2.

MK vs SF 2 has no connection story wise to the first entry, like I said the story in the first is paperthin so I wouldn't even worry about keeping up, the action is what we're here for.

This time we have Ryu the posterboy of Street Fighter taking up arms again Mortal Kombat's series fav Scorpion.(I'm not a fan of Scorpion, I pledge my allegiance to the Lin Kuie which is the clan that Sub Zero hails from. Cryo powers will always be cooler than anything else to me so Scorpion is wack based off that alone.)

This is entry is linked up with MK vs SF 3 but you'll figure this out after you watch it.

MK vs SF2 is a bit more story driven and has a 3 minute fight compared to the very short fight in the original video. The fight chroeography is much better and the animation as any good sequel should be.

Not much more to say because we're jumping right into MK vs SF3

This entry follows directly after 2 with a loose story but we're not worried about that naw mean?

Just watch and enjoy is fam, this shit is a spectacle fam, a beautiful anime laden piece of work as it has those crazy energy blasts and impactful strikes we all grew up with watching Dragon Ball Z.

I watched this video just about every day when it dropped, I loved this video so much due to Akuma being included going against Chameleon from Mortal Kombat.

The awesome thing about this video was the fact that Akuma recieved another super form in Shin Akuma Lv2 which I hope someone at Capcom saw this video, leading to Akuma's eventual transform into Oni a character who is Akuma at the height of his power and completely under the influence of the Satsui no Hado(A dark energy that grants great power) at the cost of losing his honor code, destroying all in his path.

I love the character design of Oni in Street Fighter IV and I'm hoping my suspicions are correct in the creation of this character as they share elements such as white hair and blue skin(Similar to Shin Akuma Lv2's blue gi)

I'm just hopeful that, that is the case.

I really don't know what else to say besides the fact that I love these flash videos and the music that accompanies them drove me wild as it was well put together.

I'm gonna have more soon, the itch is hitting me heavy to write and introduce you guys to things I love!

But this is all we have for now, hit me up, tell me how you liked it.

Share the article, I know there's someone that you know who would like to read or potentially be introduced to this series. Each one teach one fam!
