Massacre on the Gaza Border

While Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump were seen smiling in celebration of the relocation of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem (which in its own is already controversial), Gazans on the border with Israel were getting slaughtered by the dozens. 62 people were picked off by Israeli soldiers including some using sniper rifles. The excuse for this is that the protesters who were participating in the “great march of the return” were somehow an immediate threat and were too close to the border. The problem is these protesters were only armed with rocks, Molotov cocktails, and incendiary kites. Compare that to the weapons of the Israeli soldiers which included assault rifles and sniper weaponry and the whole argument of the protesters being able to breach the fence falls apart. Another argument that some have made is that the protesters were Hamas operatives and this was backed up by the fact that Hamas has come out and said at least 52 of those killed were Hamas affiliated, however, according to the human rights experts this wouldn’t matter because the protesters were not combatants or well armed. Human Rights Watch director Kenneth Roth stated “It doesn’t matter whether the victims were members of Hamas or not. Israeli snipers, entrenched behind two substantial fences, had no right to use lethal force … against anyone unless as a last resort to stop an imminent lethal threat.”
This is a constant theme of the Israeli Government to blame the victim to justify atrocious acts of violence but what’s more telling is the fact that the “Moderates” in the Trump administration Jared Kushner and Ivanka stood back as it happened with big smiles. Some say it’s wrong to portray their celebrating and smiling coinciding with the massacre but this is what Jared Kushner had to say about the event that took place “As we have seen from the protests of the last month and even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem and not part of the solution...”
This part of the speech was omitted for obvious reasons and it shows that the so-called moderates are none of the kind and are key players in the destructive policies of the Trump administration.
