What a Doug Jones Victory Means

Doug Jones beat Roy Moore in a stunning victory last week making him the first Democrat to accomplish this task since 1992. He won by a very small margin and slims the Republican Senate down to 49-51 from 48-52. This makes it a little bit harder for Trump and the Republicans to pass their legislation. With that being said, his opponent Roy Moore was a religious right wing republican who believes in a theocracy and very draconian views like stopping at the 10th amendment and nothing more. Also, it's good to point out black people particularly Black women help pushed Doug Jones over the edge so if you ask me I’m happy he was defeated. However, do we really know who Doug Jones is? Well before anyone thinks he’s a progressive, he’s actually a moderate Democrat, who supports a reduction in corporate taxes, increased defense spending, and just “opened” to the idea of a public healthcare option. Yea, that sounds just like a typical corporate democrat especially from a red state. People are ecstatic about him winning but I feel now that he won they won’t hold his feet to the fire when he starts to do centrist corporatist acts in Congress like passing half-ass measures and bowing down to Republicans instead of fighting and trying to change the system. We can only wait but I’m not holding my breath.
