Just in time for its 20th-anniversary Soul Calibur 6 has been announced at this year's Video Game Awards! SC hasn't had an official numbered release since 2012 with a re-release of Soul Calibur 2 and a free to play entry in between, its a breath of fresh air to get this series back as the fighting game community is on fire right now!
Soul Calibur’s sister series Tekken saw a console release in 2017 so it's great to see Namco is continuing to make magic happen!
Of course, the biggest thing I'm excited about is the guest characters that are inevitable! Tekken 7 has had some amazing guest appearances from Akuma of Street Fighter fame, Geese Howard of Final Fight/King of Fighters and more recently Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV! Raiden, Afro from Afro Samurai or Mugen and Jin from Samurai Champloo wouldn't be a bad addition to the roster. Soul Calibur has hosted a broad spectrum of video game and pop culture characters in the past such as Darth Vader, Yoda, and Starkiller from Star Wars, Kratos from God of War, Ezio of Assassin's Creed 2, Link of Legend of Zelda, Spawn of Spawn and Heichachi from sister series Tekken. If anything it's lit that this game has been announced, the Soul Caliber community is probably lit right now and I can't wait to see some hands……ugh swords thrown at Evo 2018 (If it's released in time.)
