Reading Recommendation: Doomsday Clock #1

It's 12 am I just picked up a copy of DC Comics new Doomsday Clock #1. I read it immediately when I got home and WOW. Now I know DC has been killing Marvel for the past couple years but DC may have actually put the nail in Marvel's coffin with this one.

Now the excitement all started for this one when I started reading the DC Rebirth one shot and a story arc called "The Button" where Batman and Flash are Investigating a mysterious happy face button (Comedian's button) that came outta nowhere, the one-shot is basically saying somebody (some say Manhattan himself) is messing with the timeline and stole like the last 10 yrs or something like that (I can't remember clearly) and hinted at Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias at the end. Right away I got amped. I did research on what was to become of these hints and found out it would all lead up to November's comic event "Doomsday Clock".

Now the Doomsday Clock is finally here and I've read it twice before writing about it. Without major spoilers just know that the story is, in fact, post-Watchmen (Nov. 22, 1992, specifically), Ozymandias is a wanted man responsible for the deaths of over 3 million people. Night Owl is missing and the world has gone to hell basically. The narrating character (not saying who that is) is basically looking for a specific someone for a job because he says their world is dying and needs help finding Dr. Manhattan. Some fans are saying Manhattan left the Watchmen universe and went to Superman's Universe. Clark Kent does show up because for the first time he's actually had a nightmare, now its unclear as to whats causing the nightmare but I'm sure we'll find out later. Now keep in mind, this is the first issue of 12. So there's a lot of unanswered questions but, with the way the story is going I see nothing but great twists and turns for the rest of the 12 issue series. If you haven't read it or have even the slightest interest in it. Read the first issue. I don't think you necessarily have to read any DC Rebirths (with the exception of the one-shot) to get it. But you do have to know who Watchmen is and what happened in that story (Not the movie because the ending is different). But give it a try, Marvel has a lot to compete with on this one.
