Nukes, Knuckleheads, and Extremists

Am I the only one absolutely terrified at the thought of two half-wit psychopaths tongue wrestling while their fingers linger leisurely on buttons of mass destruction?

No? Ok Good.

The escalation and realization of pending doom follows us around like a shadow, but with our eyes locked stiffly on our phone screens and our ears tuned to the newest nonsense music it seems the shadow is…just a shadow. It’s there and every so often we notice it; but who really pays attention to a shadow?

Well, I do.

We collectively (not all but a helluva lot of us) dreaded the day 45 was too take office. The overwhelming sinking feeling in the pit of our stomachs, the case of aspirin that we hoarded for future headaches, even the gallons of liquor that was bought (LVMH stocks skyrocketed after the inauguration) did nothing to prepare us for the enormity of the clusterfuck we are witnessing today. In fact, my entire back stock of Hennessey is already gone and we’re just nine months in. His disregard for America’s policies and procedures, his inept way of handing his position, and the overall lack of common sense are already covered thoroughly in (some)mainstream media platforms. What is NOT being mentioned is the overall disdain for anyone’s safety but his.

The man that was elected as our president has never given me the impression that he is someone that would fight side by side with you. In fact, he seems like someone to get him and his friends in hot water and leave them there to boil when the water gets scalding. What we’re forgetting is that if a nuclear war was to happen, he would be tucked away somewhere nice and secure in a bunker without a worry. The rest of us will be the ones concerned about the blisters, boils, and oh yeah…death. How hesitant do you think he’d be to put us in that situation? With the exception of unwittingly (because he’s dumb) encouraging the destruction of the fragile social structure that we’ve attempted to glue together for the last 100 or so years, he’s accomplished nothing. We watch closely with our eyes open and deep breathes held captive in our chests for the next disastrous news headline.

You would think that, considering our current political climate, the U.S. presidential administration would attempt to bring US closer together. As a black man who has constantly fought against stereotypes, racism, and just plain cruelty because of my dark skin complexion I can honestly say that I’m tired but not scared anymore. The recent neo-nazi and white extremists gatherings were only a reminder of my younger years in Stone Mountain Georgia, when I actually witnessed a full Klan march near my school. Well, not only witnessed but became an unwilling participant when I was told soon after that I had to wait at least a half hour before I could walk home but didn’t listen. Luckily I lived pretty close and didn’t have to run too far. In those days I was still filled with youthful naivety. I hoped by the time I was old enough to have children that they wouldn’t have to witness or be a part of the same racial tensions that plagued my younger years.

I had hoped that the world would have gotten it together by now and understood that we are all one. The energy flows through us all, even though we operate at different frequencies and vibrations. We are all flesh wearing and blood bleeding water bags known as humans but some don’t see it that way. So…it hasn’t gotten better. It has gotten worse because now instead of just trying to shake off one impending terror we now have to worry about the nukes, knuckleheads, AND extremists.
