Trailer Trash!!! Pacific Rim:Uprising

Aight y’all I’m back!
Yo man I was hella hype for this film and from what I’m seeing in this trailer I’m losing a little steam.
Pacific Rim: Uprising is the sequel to the 2013 hit Pacific Rim which I wasn’t a huge fan of but I can start retracting that statement as it seems I need to give the first film another chance.
As the top billed actor we have one of my favorite up and coming actors John Boyega who I’m happy is playing the son of Idris Elba’s character in the first film. They’re both British so this casting is perfect and as a black man I’m happy to see someone who looks like me as the main character in a big budget Hollywood film, keep getting that paper JB!
But I digress, my biggest gripe with this trailer thus far is the ugly CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) in the trailer. The Yeagers were seen mostly in darkness in the first film so that masked any ugliness that we may have encountered but Jesus!!! this looks terrible.
Then again this is just the TRAILER for the film and they won’t look like this come release day on the silver screen so it’s a pretty small concern as of right now.
I was bothered by the mobilization scene though, it gave me Transformer vibes.
The stakes look a little higher since we have some human infighting which kinda bothers me since there’s a bigger conflict taking place but the Kaiju will most likely appear after this squabble has taken place.
Overall I will see the film but I hope some of my grievances are taken care of pre-release.
This film looks to capture the summer crowd and it cheeses it up here and there (i.e. John’s let’s band together and win this thang speech!) but I hope the feel of the previous film isn’t compromised for sake of a bigger audience.

P.S. Can we stop getting 3 second snippets of the trailers? I understand the attention span of the people is fading everyday but I’m not so vapid that I need a short peek of the trailer I specifically came to YouTube to watch. smh
