Whaddup y’all I’m BradBeGodlike and this is a new segment called FiendTech!
As you likely assumed we will be going over different pieces of technology through reviews, impressions and a myriad of other ways to bring our opinions on technology.
Today is October 4th, 2017, Google unveiled their newest first party product line in the form of Google Home, it’s Mini variant as well as Google Home Max a smart speaker with sounds as big as it’s ambitions.
I’ll touch more on the other devices in other articles since the main focus of today’s live stream was Google’s flagship Android line the Google Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL devices!

In the last photo you can see the 5in Pixel in it’s 3 colors of “Kinda Blue, Clearly Black and Just White” and I am in love with naming of these colors on these devices, they’re finally literal which is a contrast to the naming convention of most devices to make your already fancy phone sound fancier.
To the right of the Pixel 2 we have the 6” XL variant of the device for phablet fans which comes in “Just Black and Black & White”
On the spec side both of the devices share some common elements so no one is left out in the rain.
Both devices are running the latest build of Google’s Android operating system Oreo and will receive security/ new versions of the OS (Operating System) before any other devices.
They share the same front and rear facing optical sensors (That’s a camera for all you common folk out there.)
I think it’s cool that mobile devices are capable of outputting video and photos that are getting closer and closer to high quality camera standards.
12 Megapixel sensors on the back that can capture video up to 120 frames per second which is insane to me at 720p through 4K resolutions. (4K is locked at 30fps but at least it’s capable of it)
An 8MP sensor for the front to catch footage capped at 30fps should give you some great photos in differently lit environments.
The greatest asset to the sensors of the Pixel 2 is the fact that it makes use of the new “Dual-Pixel Sensor” technology which literally splits every pixel into two, basically replicating the function of a second camera that most devices are using these days.
During the demonstration today I can say that I’m intrigued to try out this technology as I am a fan of fine photography.
The devices also feature dual front facing stereo speakers for audiophiles who love big sound and annoying people on the bus if you’re that kind of jerk.
Battery life is very important when it comes to devices with a 2700 mah battery for the Pixel 2 and whopping 3520 mah (Milliamp hour) battery for the XL 2 which is nice because people complained about the size of the iPhone X’s 2716 mah battery size.
Also being a flagship, premium gimmicks are needed such as “Active Edge” which is pretty dope.
Basically one squeezes the device and it will launch the Google Assistant or a number of other functions that can be changed to your liking.
This being 2017, Augmented Reality is the new wave and it must be featured prominently in new devices to entice the masses.
Instead of the face replicating emojis of iOS, Google has created “Augmented Reality Stickers” that can interact with you or other stickers from the same set that can be placed to play around with each other.
This is definitely a nifty feature and I can’t wait to see it in action for myself as the video and picture taking capabilities are endless for this feature!
With all that being said, I’m sold on the device and would love the opportunity to play around with one for a review, they’re wonderful pieces of tech and some nice competition to Apple’s current line of hardware.
Normally these devices are going to be overlooked unless Google puts their utmost effort to push them as alternatives to other devices as most people who don’t actively search or keep up with trends may never know what this device is.
I hope they sell well and that I get one in my hands in the near future.
The Pixel 2 is starting off at $649 for the 64GB model and $849 for the XL 2 for the 64GB model.
To sweeten the deal Google is throwing in a Google Home Mini to those who preorder the device before October 19th, the device retails for $50 on it’s own and is dope piece of technology to get for free with a high end handset.
The Google Pixel 2 and XL 2 are available to preorder now and will release on October 17th, 2017
