Kurdish Vote For Independence

The Kurds who have been on the front lines in the fight against ISIS had a vote last week to become their own state. Now it should be known this was not the official vote but a mandate to start talks for secession. Iraq rejects the referendum as they see it as unconstitutional and are against the voting measure. Turkey and Iran are also against this and to show their anger toward it the Iraqi government has closed border crossings and suspended flights coming in and out of the region. Now, when you take a look at the vote we're talking 93% voted to become independent. And what this shows is that the Kurdish people really want their own nation which they see as long overdue. We will have to see how things turn out over this but what is known is Turkey has threatening to intervene if violence breaks out. My opinion on the whole matter is they deserve their own nation for the simple fact that they have sacrificed so much to defeat ISIS on the Americans behalf. The least we can do is help them become a democratic state. But I also understand the challenges and geopolitical ramifications of this. We can only hope this doesn’t turn into another chapter of unrest in Iraq.
