Google Fired Someone Because of Diversity

Google recently fired one of their employees named James Damore who was an engineer at the company. He had recently posted an internal memo at Google on diversity and the problems he saw occurring at Google because of it. But due to this he was fired with Google stating their reasoning being he violated their code of conduct. In his memo, he spoke out against the diversity initiatives, stated google was an echo chamber that doesn’t allow conservative opinions, and mainly talked about how based on biological factors women are less likely to get tech jobs than it being basic old fashioned sexism. In my opinion, he should have never been fired and I say that because by doing so proves his point about the echo chamber. What should’ve happened in my opinion was that Google instead of firing him should have started a debate and took what he said into consideration and if there were things they found wrong with it, refute it with facts and logic. With that being said on the legality and free speech issue, Google did nothing wrong because Google is a private corporation so they are fully within their right to do so. And to keep him on regardless of how you feel would affect their bottom line effectively because let’s be honest, this is a controversial topic. As far as what he was saying, I think he’s coming to hasty conclusions. He’s taking data and research on women and men's biological disparities and trying to make a case for women in tech. Problem is his own data can be used to build a case for men and serial killings. He stated women are more emphatic than men and someone could say because of that and testosterone it can explain why men become serial killers at higher rates than women. This is not to say the two are the same but it gives an example of how slippery a slope this can be. But I will say this, what he has brought forth is interesting and its up for debate because when you read his memo he goes to great lengths to not sound sexist so I don’t think he is a bad guy just connecting wrong dots maybe. By Google doing this they open themselves up to a lot of internet hate and trolling something I’m sure they didn’t expect to happen.
