A Helping Hand

With the help of U.S. Marines, Afghan forces have retook the Nawa District in the Helmand Province. It should be noted that many parts of the Helmand Province have fell under the control of the Taliban. The operation saw support from Apache helicopters and F-16’s with the operation itself being called the Maiwand Four and thankfully it turned out to be successful. The problem now however is getting the “hold” part down. Meaning there will be a struggle to actually provide the necessary security for the area. It’s always easy to just take over the area but it is much harder to maintain or "hold" it and the resources needed to hold these areas always seem to be inadequate. With this being accomplished, I expect to see more ops like these in the near future to wrestle control of the other areas away from the Taliban in the province.
