Alien: Covenant - Second Opinion (Movie Review)

Imma just get straight to the point, Let's talk about Alien: Covenant...This movie definitely felt like a sequel to 2012's Prometheus, it even felt like it was in the same universe. In fact it felt like a Prometheus sequel with a couple Alien references...Is that necessarily a bad thing no. I honestly think it made up for Prometheus's lack of xenomorphs that the crowd wanted. There's a point in this film where it feels like half the casts gets killed in less then 5 minutes most of the time with predictable deaths...I do enjoy the story, being that it does Elaborate on Prometheus premise a bit more I think it was really cool. What makes the movie really bad ass is that it has a bad ass villain with kind of a world domination objective. Sort of like a James Bond villain.

Towards the end of the movie is where it really begins to feel like an Alien film. 75% of the movie is on a planet and the other 25% takes place on the ship (called the Covenant) and I honestly i think the whole purpose of that part was to kinda pay homage to the original 1979 Alien (which was also directed by Ridley Scott)... Now I might be a little one sided here but I loved the movie, like I said the movie was great, the story was also, and the Alien design was of course incredible like always, they didn't make it as mysterious but they sure as hell made it very vicious. What I didn't like were the characters of this movie in which I didn't care whom got killed, also worth noting some of the death scenes where very predictable. But Overall I loved it, i'm a huge fan I own The quadrilogy on Blu-Ray along with the AvP (Alien vs Predator) movies, and I own the games including the horrible Colonial Marines (which the ending actually reminds me of). So like I said I may be a bit one sided.

I hope the Sequel/prequel thing continues with this movie and see what direction the Alien franchise goes next...
