The Voices in my Head (And Probably Yours Too) Johnny Yong Bosch

Welcome back friends, BradBeGodlike back with the voices. This time we’re going over a voice actor that I actually met in person, Johnny Yong Bosch, take note of this picture here from MetroCon 2012!

Yup that handsome young hot boi next to BradBeGodlike is Mr. Bosch himself.

Now if you feel as tho you’ve seen this gentleman’s face before it's because he was a part of my childhood and yours too (If it was worth anything and you indulged in some good ole quality 90s tv that is!!)

Johnny was once a Power Ranger!!!!

To be specific, let’s get a lil history lesson going. Johnny was the second Black Ranger after Zack Taylor who was the black, black ranger that most of us remember from the first season of Power Rangers that we got here in America.

Johnny also reprised the same character in the first Power Rangers feature film as seen here.

And yet again Bosch was able to appear yet again in the next Power Rangers series Zeo again as Adam Park.

Now as I said in the Cree Summer article, the voices of these actors have been heard for many years by most of us throughout time.

Besides his portrayal of characters in live action shows and film, Johnny Yong Bosch has an extensive list of voice acting roles that I’ll go over the roles I’m most familiar with and hopefully you’ll look into these series and find something you love.

Let’s get into the characters that Johnny Yong Bosch brought to life.

Ichigo Kurozaki (Bleach)

Ole Strawberry head (His hair is orange but explained as Strawberry in the manga for some reason) here is one of Mr.Bosch’s most prominent roles to date and his probably best known role as the English voice actor of Ichigo.

Bleach was a cool manga that had a difficult time in anime form down the line but check it out if you haven’t, it has dope music and a great story up until the defeat of a certain antagonist but check it out folks.

Byakuya vs Ichigo fight

Shotaro Keneda (Akira)

Johnny also voiced Shotaro from the classic anime film Akira in the Pioneer Dub (Different studios get different voice actors to work on series as time goes on or the property gets a reboot or remake of sorts, sometimes it's region dependent as well, I'll expound on this later.)

Akira is a widely known film among many anime heads (I haven't watched it all the way through, don't shoot me in the face ok?) and I know Kanye is a fan of it because it influenced one of his early music videos.

Me explaining this character wouldn't do it justice because I'm a pleb who hasn't finished the film but this is a character he portrayed soooooooo. lol

Vash the Stampede (Trigun)

If you grew up watching Toonami you probably watched some Trigun, the post apocalyptic series about a man with 60 million double dollar bounty on his head.

Vash was the obfuscating (Lovable idiot archetype) protagonist of this series who played the fool but was ridiculously skilled at avoiding gunfire and preserving the life of those around him.

Vash could get nasty when he needed too and Bosch played the role very well, the first time I can remember hearing his voice was with Vash’s face attached to it.

If you have time Trigun is a relatively short series so check it out on a streaming service, I think Netflix has it available.

Now we’re gonna hop on over to the video game side of Mr.Bosch’s work!!!

Zero (Marvel vs Capcom 3)

Zero is MegaMan’s homeboy and the second character you get to play as in the MegaMan X series.

The iteration JYB voiced was in the massively popular Marvel vs Capcom series which is you guessed it a crossover of Marvel’s superheros and Capcoms many properties.

If you follow fighting games or tournament scene at all you should be familiar with hearing his voice and the annoying attacks he does. lol Zero is deadly in the hands of a skilled player, here ya go!!!

Nero (Devil May Cry 4)

And here we have Nero the 3rd white haired pretty boy in Devil May Cry series with Nero, an angsty youngin who likes to drop kick the series protagonist Dante and has a pretty cool demon arm.

The game has been around for almost 10 years so if you’re a fan of the series then you probably know a bit about him already.

He was a nice addition to the series and Johnny did his thing.

Kung-Jin (Mortal Kombat X)

This is Kung Jin, a gay archer that is a new character to the Mortal Kombat series as of it’s latest entry.

The claim to this characters fame and a lot of others as of recent is his homosexual sexual orientation that could’ve been said in passing but bringing it up prior to the game releasing kind of does the inverse of what Netherealm Studios wanted for a gay character.

He is of course voiced by JYB as well, this being the last credit in a video game so this is his latest work in the gaming realm. I hope you guys enjoyed another entry in this series, I’m going to do my best to get it together and put more out more frequently because I have a lot of fun researching these actors and actresses. Giving you access to new series and things you might like.

Enjoy fam!
