The battle to retake another ISIS capital is looming as U.S. forces have ferried helicopters backed by American backed rebel fighters behind enemy lines to take the Taqbah dam. This is a strategic move because it can be used as a launching point for Raqqah city and to isolate the city as a whole. Now as far as the U.S. military goes it is yet to be seen whether they will take a conventional approach and fight alongside rebel fighters or just stay in the background, but we do know they will be utilizing artillery and advising along with the usual airstrikes to cover these fighters when they go in. Taking this city would be huge and very important for the overall fight against ISIS. One thing it would certainly do is destroy the idea of a caliphate for ISIS not only delivering them a military defeat but a spiritual and political defeat as well.
