With Suicide Squad recently winning an Academy Award for "Best Make-Up" Comic fans have gone crazy all over the internet. (Come on, its only best make up, Star Trek Beyond should've won that obviously) but let me break it down on why that movie doesn't deserve anything but Golden Garbage.
Lets take a look at our "stars". Will Smith, Margot Robbie...First of all before I continue, what was the last film these 2 were in?..."Focus" and that was trash. I seen it.
They try too hard to make the characters relatable. Batman shows up out of nowhere to take down Will Smith's character and it wants us to feel bad because his daughter is watching. It didn't work and Batman didn't need to be in the movie. They're supposedly the most dangerous criminals in a maximum security prison, but they seem like the nicest people on earth. "Don't hurt my friends!!!"... I thought they were villains? Why is the movie making it seem like they're all wrongly convicted?
Oh and don't cast Jay Hernandez in anything. El Diablo...What a waste of a potential character. Now let's get to the selling point of this film. The Joker...Why does everybody like him? I'm a fan of Jared Leto...Loved him in Requiem for a Dream, Lord of War, Dallas Buyers Club, Fight Club and yes I even liked him in Panic Room. BUT!!! I do think he was the wrong choice for this particular iconic villain. Leto stated his inspiration for the character was David Bowie and Tony Montana...You don't put those two together to create a Joker. That's like mixing Red bull and Tylenol to create a Molotov Cocktail...There was no reason for Joker to even be in this movie. He was fan service, it was almost like he was an extra...They were better off just casting an extra. Joker looks like something out the Rocky Horror Picture show if it was directed by Martin Scorsese. (I might actually watch that)
Villain Choice, bad idea. This movie led up to absolutely nothing. We got villains (Suicide Squad) vs. Villian (Enchantress)...something ancient gets awaken and it gets confronted at the end...Sounds like Queen of The Damn if you ask me. I seen it.
The only character in the film I like was the samurai girl and even they wasted the use of her character. Are comic movies going to Hell? Age of Ultron, X-Men: Apocalypse, and now Suicide Squad... Nothing feels right anymore. Take my word for it, if you want to see a good Suicide Squad movie watch the DC Animated film "Assault on Arkham"....I seen it.
