His name is Abu Khayr Al-Masri and he is considered Al-Qaeda’s number 2 because he took on the role as their general manager. The general manager position based on files recovered from the bin laden raid consists of earmarking budgets and coordinating activities with the branches like unification or external ops against the West. The previous GM was Nasir al Wuhayshi former leader of the Yemeni Al-Qaeda branch who was killed in a drone strike in Yemen. Al-Masri was an Egyptian who had a guesthouse in Kabul, Afghanistan and was close to top Al-Qaeda leaders. A drone strike on a vehicle he was in ended his jihadist career and now we must wait to see whose next up to fill the role. This is a major coup for the Pentagon and a significant setback for the terrorist organization.
