Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge fan of comedy. I love to laugh. From Stand up, to movies, to funny Memes on the internet. But one thing I can't stand is when I am force fed a joke that isn't funny any more. Now when I was first exposed to Kevin Hart's acting was around his Paper Soldiers/Soul Plane era where in both films he kinda played 2 different characters one has money and another character is broke, down on his luck and needs money... I liked that, that's fine, I thought both his characters in those movies were in fact funny.
Around 2009 I saw a stand up from him for the first time on the Shaq all star comedy special with Him Cedric, Tommy Davidson and Aries Spears; all comedy legends, his short time on that Special is what made me go "Whoa this guy is actually funny, I can't wait to see him in more things"... Now for the past few years I feel that the more things I see him in the more I feel he's using the exact same formula he uses in his stand ups for the characters he's portraying in movies... "I'm not a thug, I'm short, I can't fight, I don't want problems" its almost as he's playing himself in every movie. He's like the new Chris Tucker of our day (That's probably why they keep teaming him with Ice Cube).
If he continues down this route, he will ruin his legacy and may not even make it onto top comedian lists for any publication. His stand ups are fine, he should continue to do stand up, that's a comedian's strong point. But Hollywood will wash him up!.. As a matter of fact, you know what happens when Hollywood wants to put a comedian in every movie coming out?.... You get modern day Adam Sandler... Kevin Hart, don't be the next Adam Sandler. I don't know if I will ever find Adam Sandler funny again, and right now Kevin Hart isn't funny at all anymore.... Dude gonna end up like Martin Lawrence, mark my words.
