~In todays internet driven world artist come and go just as quick as you can swipe right on tinder. Many exist for the sole sake of being able to make singles that tweens and other self obsessed fucbois can fit in 15 second videos. However even with this you still have artist who can still manage to create albums worth of pure flame, which brings me to this months artist Azizi Gibson. Even though Azizi is still relatively new to the rap game he has still managed to build a following of fans and drop an impressive discography of bangers. My first introduction to Azizi actually happened when I saw his song DJ Khaled in Alex Wiley's related videos...and shit am I glad I decided to click that video. Azizi has a laid back flow with accompanying lyrics that include anime references and other braggadocios rhymes we come to expect from other rappers. But what separates Azizi from others is a sense of genuineness, relatbility, and an effortless way of crafting songs. Many rappers attempt to cast themselves as weridos or outside of the norm, however being a weirdo has become the new edgy and most of those rappers who attempt to come across this way simply end up looking like Miley Cyrus dancing around in any instance. Azizi spits about things that many of us 90's born slakers/stoners have thought about randomly in our day to day lives and it just comes across as real and true to its form. In one instance he can be rapping/singing about how he keeps telling a girl that his feelings or words toward her are genuine and not just a way of getting in her pants, the next instance he can be rapping about doing wreckless shit that could easily land him in jail. His way of structuring his albums while they do go with a overarching theme never follow the expected flow of a commercial rap album. The songs can be about anything and everything, seriously he can be making anime references one minute and the next talking about riding around in his slave ship with a white bitch in the passenger seat. Azizi makes sure his albums are a whole project and not simply a mediocre work guided by singles, his albums prehistoric Till Death and A New Life are easily some of the best projects released in the past two years. The themes explored in both of these albums are so relatable that you wonder if he's speaking your inner thoughts, or if he's in the bushes outside your house spying on you to get new material to rap about. Whatever the case may be Azizi has a talent that is definitely something that can keep him active in the rap game for a long time. If you're a fan of introspective rappers, weirdos, or just a sucker for a good beat and catchy hook Azizi should definitely be someone you keep on your watch list. In a world full of trendy fucks and wannabes trying to jump on the next big wave Azizi Gibson serves as a beacon of creativity and talent that shows just how much rap has changed over the past years. Make sure to checkout the albums I've highlighted from Azizi Gibson below and make sure to follow him to stay up to date on any of his future releases, I know I will. Also make sure you keeps your eyes locked to the fiendfix...I mean unless you don't care about having music you can brag about to your friends about...but you're a hipster sum bitch so I know you will.
